Faux Silk and Leatherette

jacket(similar here)/blouse(similar here)/wedges-Forever21, pants-Gap, scarf-Modcloth(similar here), bag-Coach, necklace/bracelets-gifted

Even though the blouse here is not real silk, it still feels great and drapes beautifully. Who knows what will happen come laundry day, but at this point I'm okay with not having the real thing.  Same goes for the leatherette sleeves and collar on the jacket.  Yes it'd be great to have real leather, but even though its faux the jacket still has a nice heft to it.  As it starts to get colder I see myself wearing this more so as a blazer under my heavier coats.  Also, this is a great outfit for my office.  Its fairly conservative, (cropped trousers, blouse, blazer), but the mix of materials make it interesting and not just another blah blah cubicle uniform.  Oh and of course the shoes, they are pretty hot!

My horse scarf was last seen here.

  1. Those shoes are awesome. As far as the blouse goes, wash it and let it air dry. If you don't have a clothes steamer you should get one. It is well worth the investment. It can steam press that blouse and a real silk one. It can steam press delicate silk to heavy cashmere overcoats. And if you are very careful you can steam velvet (from the back). You can even, with dexterity, put a crease in a pair of pants.

  2. Thanks belloli, I do have a steamer, but I am such a lazy lou that I rarely use it, but you've given me incentive.

40 Year Old Cottagecore

dress-Anthropologie(more options here ), sunnies- DIFF Eyewear , necklace- Benevolence LA , bag-- Shiraleah , sandals- Born I first became aware of Cottagecore earlier this summer and found it to be an aesthetic I can appreciate and find aspirational , but was not necessarily a style that aligned with my wheelhouse. Well as I've been growing my hair during covid quarantine and having picked up this dress as seen here , I felt that I was ready to tackle #cottagecore here on my 40th birthday!!! Yep, that's right today I turn 40 (but I don't look it). And while it's been a year like no other, I feel excited for my next year, decade, chapter of my life. I think it's fair to say I'm done having babies and ready to move on from the chaos of very little children to the chaos of big kids.  I no longer feel like I have something to proof in my work, writing, sense of self. I'm just going to enjoy and be grateful for the many blessings of family, friends, health, a...

Rent the Runway to the Rescue

So after the semi-disastrous dress vote from last week I took the stiletto by the heel, aka reserved this Slate & Willow dress from Rent the Runway  for the wedding in July.  Slate & Willow I had my eye on this as a possible outfit for the Tilda Swinton event I attended last month (fancy I know!) But, ended up going pretty casual since it was just a film screening. An AMAZING screening, but not a dressy affair nonetheless.  Anyway, this striped sheath has so many good reviews from a variety of fellow renters in all shapes and sizes, I didn't see one unflattering user pic, so I'm fairly confident this frock will serve my needs come July. And here are some pics of former rentals over the last few years: Nanette Lapore Elie Tahari Elie Tahari Robert Rodriguez Halston Heritage Interesting in renting something for yourself here this summer, use this link , to get $20 off your first rental. You're welcome!

Annie Lennox Realness!

Love the tuxedo detail of these cropped pants. coat/pants-Jcrew(similar here and here ), blazer-Zara(similar here ), shirt-Asos(sort of similar here ), shoes-DSW(really cool here ), gloves-Brian Atwood for Neiman Marcus/Target(more gloves here ), sunglasses-Banana Republic(similar here ) I'm feeling very Annie Lennox circa Eurythmics in this outfit, eh? Most times wearing a coat is a necessity, not necessarily an intricate part of the outfit, but here it really makes the look. And even though the blazer is covered up the hints of it, almost like a lining, work break up an all grey/white look.  And now for your viewing pleasure  Sweet Dreams:   Have a great weekend!
